When creating or updating entities, you must reference external objects by internalId. This includes any reference to a subsidiary, location, or department. Likewise ,when you search based on these fields you must use the internalId.

SOAP APIs, like NetSuite, explicitly define every field. Therefore, custom fields are stored in arrays. If you need to support custom fields in NetSuite there are some additional steps.
